Day 7 – Weekend is almost Here
Blood Pressure – 125/82 Resting Pulse rate – 56 Weight 268
It’s warming up outside and the mosquitoes are hungry. With my luck I’ll get the West Nile. As I waddle into the last day of a full week of intense dieting, I must remain focused, alert, and engaged. Beginning a new program is easy, staying focused to complete the program is so hard. There are too many distractions.
Yesterday’s highlight was the Caesar Salad. Sodexho, our on site restaurant at work makes a tremendous salad, one of the best I’ve eaten ever. In fact, it it the most popular dish and the lines are huge, and well worth the wait. At $6.97 out the door it is not cheap, but it just perfect and worth every penny. I have it with shrimp and anchovies, no croûtons, a few tomatoes, a bit of Parmesan cheese, and that creamy dressing. I am salivating right now.
I’ve got the IPod and XM radio charged up, I am off work on Monday, so I look forward to four days of extended walks, good music, interesting podcasts, and relaxation.
And the fat shall inherit the earth.
Day 6 – Hanging tough
Down two pounds from yesterday to 268 pounds. Last night I avoided eating after reaching 1600 calories, went to bed with that faint hunger in the pit of my stomach, and just watched American Idol. It worked. I also gave my legs a rest and didn’t do a lot of walking, so today I feel much stronger.
My speech in Toastmasters went ok, my delivery was better, but it lacked animation and energy. I’ll have to work on that. I’m glad, because it was for a speech contest, and the topic I chose was a bit personal, and I choked up and started to get emotional, so to maintain, I couldn’t rise to the occasion.
What’s in store today? I’ll put in a good day at work, stay focused on watching what I eat, and then end the day with an extended walk. Oh! Let’s get a reading on the blood pressure.
126//86 Pulse rate 54
Day 5- Still Fat and more Happy
Good Morning world. I have to give a speech at Toastmasters that I am totally not prepared for, but I’ll give it with hopes that as I become more extemporaneous in my efforts, future speeches will improve. What a crock.
This is day 5 of my diet, and right now I feel fine. I’m utilizing Fitday and Walker Tracker, and most of the battle is actually using the programs to stay in control. I resisted the brownies at work, so that in itself was HUGE. I ate a little too much yesterday, but the carbs were low, so as far as the day is concerned, I won.
My shins still hurt from the walking, but I think the pain is beginning to subside. I hope to put in some big numbers on the pedometer over the next several days. I’ve got to average over 12,000 steps daily to be effective in staying in control.
Nothing else to say at this time, except that I watched the debates last night and Hillery is done. Stick a fork in her, she’s finished. Obama’s likability factor looms large, in fact so large that he will eat McCain for lunch. I predict Obama will win it all because he is so well liked, plus, he will garner a large Republican vote. McCain really isn’t conservative enough, and Republicans will vote for Obama because they think he’ll screw things up just enough to give the Republicans the opportunities next time.
It’s time for a group hug.
Day 4
BP – 121/84 resting pulse rate 57
Good morning planet. Down to 270 pounds today. I need to be subdued, focused, calm, and in complete control. Above all else, I must remain within the guidelines that I have established for this diet.
Day 3
Day 3 of my diet begins, I am at a 2 pound loss to 271 pounds. I have to remain strong and in control. There is no good time to start a new weight loss plan. I start, stop, restart, binge, and wind up in the same place I started or worse.
My life will change drastically over the next year. I could take a financial bloodbath, and I am not sure how I will handle this. I will be losing my job in October, outsourced of course, and I’ve got to fine tune my plan of action so I don’t wind up on the street. It is now off to work.
Blood pressure is 130/87 with a resting pulse rate of 60.
Down 3 pounds from Last week
Why the heck do I bother with this, I don’t know. I’m down three pounds from last week, but down only two pounds for the year…that is extremely pitiful. Under the circumstances, I think that’s pretty good, as the last five months have been the worst period of my life. My greatest loss is Mrs F moving out. She was my soul mate but I guess we drove each other over the edge. Well, enough whining.
Maybe if I am lucky, I can now focus on this dieting thing and proceed forth trying to lose 100 pounds. Right now I will focus on walking over 10,000 steps per day, listening to nutritional podcasts, very hard rock, the blues, and chill music, and keeping track of my food. I’m two days into restarting my diet and it’s been rough.
I watched Little Miss Sunshine today and it was excellent. My big mistake today was eating hard boiled eggs with Mrs Dash instead of salt. That made me gag. GROSS! I am still feeling a slight turn in my stomach.
My supplements right now are:
Aspirin
Vitamin Pill
CoQ10
Potassium
Fish Oil
It’s time to go out and walk again and then prepare for work.
ASSUMED CONTROL
ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION, WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL – Rush 2112
Yes, and I believe I am slowly regaining control of my my attitude. Really, attitude is most important.
The week was rough, but I managed. After a rise in 1o pounds, I dropped again. losing one pound for the week. I resumed Fitday on Friday because I was just eating too many carbs. Hopefully this and walking will keep me in check.
On a bad note, I have suspended any jogging or weights, as my knees and lower legs are in pain, so right now I am only counting on slow and deliberate walks. To combat any negativity, I discovered the IPOD and have been utilizing it to its full potential. Music and Podcasts, along with XM RADIO will guide me to the promised land of 173 pounds.
Excuse me for being pigheaded, but that’s how I feel right now.
Weight Gain and Walking
After going to the doctor on Tuesday, I found out I gained 21 pounds since October 22, 2007. YIKES! Of course, Mrs F and I high-fived each other. I think the ten pound gain over the last few days was an anomoly, and it is proving to be true as my weight is starting to drop from my 284 pound high on Wednesday. Right now I am at 277 lbs. In reality, I think I’ve gained about 15 pounds since October 22.
My exercise program has been put on hiatus as I recover from a walking accident; I was hit by a car. I was fortunate and unfortunate, as it could have been much worse.
I am getting into walking again, but I have never found it to be a very good method for controlling weight. An article I found supports my theory that someone my age and sex needs to walk 12000 steps in order to just maintain weight. Christ, what do I have to do to lose weight? Fortunately, I use walking as means to clear out my cobwebs and maintain my mental health. At any rate, I think I will work to get up to 12000 steps per day.
I haven’t been using Fitday to keep track of my food intake, so I believe that has really done harm on my diet. Diligent efforts are needed in watching what I eat. Today I hope to begin using Fitday on a daily basis.
Sunday Weight Training and January results
Got up this morning and weight myself and am at the same weight I was at the beginning of January, 275 pounds. As to that, I have no comment. The positives so far are:
- I like the Walker Tracker. It’s keeping me mentally on track.
- I began lifting weights again; right now about once a week, but it’s a start.
- I began jogging again; I hope to be at 3 miles/jog by end of February
The negatives are:
- I didn’t really keep track of my food intake
- I’ve been eating way too many carbs.
- I didn’t lose weight, nor did my waistline shrink
Today’s weight training was the following:
- Pushups with Pushup bar – 2 sets/12 reps
- Abslide – 2 sets/30 reps
- Crunches – 2 sets/25 reps
- Military Press – 70 lbs -2 sets/12 reps
- Upright Row – 60 lbs – 2 sets/10 reps
- Curls -60 lbs – 2 sets/10 reps
- Bentover Row – 60 lbs – 2 sets/10 reps
- Squats – 60 lbs – 2 sets/10 reps
- Stiff Leg Dead Lift – 60 lbs – 2 sets/10 reps
My plan for February is to keep on pace with the weight training, walker tracker, and jogging, hopefully make some progress. It’s also time to keep better track of my food intake. I’ve got to use that Fitday.
For today, I hope to get in 10,000 steps before the Super Bowl, and then enjoy the game! Tomorrow I start keeping track of my food.
Saturday Morning Jog
It was a rough morning at 6 am, nice and cool, around freezing but I felt like crap, and the jog showed it. For February I am increasing the distance to 2.3 miles so that I can be at 5km jogs by month end. I averaged 15:10 per mile and felt lousy.
- 2-1 34:53 2.3 miles – (18:18 at 1.26 mile mark)
Hopefully I can improve and manage better times; I think I can. I felt tight, came home and crashed for a couple hours, and now I’ll go out and walk to get up to my daily goal of 10,000 steps. I’m still quite large, but I feel like I am starting to feel better because of the weights, jogs, and walking.
